Lesley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and later, continued her studies, graduating with honors from Iona College with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, receiving the department medal of honor for clinical and academic excellence. After graduate school, Lesley furthered her clinical and academic training by graduating from a 3-year certificate program in Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Therapy. Lesley is also a Certified Gottman Couple's Therapist -Level 2.
Before entering private practice, Lesley has worked in various university and community mental health settings providing clinical care for adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse socioeconomic, racial, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds. Currently, she volunteers at a community based organization mentoring young women, providing pre-marital counseling, and teaching parenting and marriage workshops. She is especially drawn to working with men’s issues, sports/academic performance, parenting difficulties, and high-conflict couples.
Lesley’s passion for working with people developed in her early 20’s while teaching and coaching youth in sports. She found that to effectively work with the youth she had to build a solid relationship with the families to develop a collaborative approach to the student’s growth as an athlete, student, and person. She brings these years of experience to her current work as a therapist. She strives to tailor her work specifically toward your needs and goals and considers her approach as empathetic, non-judgmental, and honest.
