About Lesley Thompson
Lesley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York and New Jersey and a registered telehealth provider in the state of Florida. She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and later, continued her studies, graduating with honors from Iona College with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, receiving the department medal of honor for clinical and academic excellence. After graduate school, Lesley furthered her clinical and academic training by graduating from a 3-year certificate program in Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Therapy. Lesley is also a Certified Gottman Couple's Therapist -Level 2 and a Certified Trauma Therapist.
Before entering private practice, Lesley worked in various university and community mental health settings, providing clinical care for adolescents, adults, couples, and families from diverse socioeconomic, racial, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds. Currently, she volunteers at a community based organization mentoring young women, providing pre-marital counseling, and teaching parenting and marriage workshops.
Lesley loves working with both individuals and couples. She is especially drawn to working with couples where one or both partners have experienced childhood trauma. She strives to tailor her work specifically toward each person's individual needs and goals, and considers her approach as empathetic, non-judgmental, and honest.
Lesley has been married for over 20 years and has two teenage boys. In her free time, Lesley loves the outdoors, running, training in Tae Kwon Do, and can be found taking dance class in various NYC dance studios.
