TRAUMA THERAPY

If you have come to this page, you may be experiencing these symptoms:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Numbness

  • Irritability

  • Shame and Self-loathing

  • Nightmares and/or Flashbacks

  • Hyper-vigilance

  • Mistrust

  • Relationship Difficulties

  • Panic Attacks

  • Suicidality and/or Self-harm

  • Eating Disorders

  • Addiction

Traumatic experiences can leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and isolated. And sometimes it can be confusing why we feel so triggered, why we can so quickly shift into another mood or state, and why we can’t just move on and “let it go.” Sometimes we may be aware of our trauma and its effects, but sometimes its not until another event triggers it that we become aware. You are not alone. There is hope. And you can regain your life.

My approach is to work collaboratively with you to establish safety and stability. We will work together on understanding triggers, creating mindfulness, regulating emotions, and creating meaning to help you cope with and resolve the symptoms of trauma. Through therapy you can re-establish a sense of safety and connectedness to the world. I utilize several different approaches such as psycho-education, sensory-motor, parts theory and Internal Family Systems.

But “What if I don’t want to talk about the trauma?”  I respect that you do not want to discuss the trauma and encourage you to only talk about what you want, when you want, and how you want. There are many ways to help resolve the effects of trauma, and “rehashing” the trauma is not necessary and is often re-traumatizing rather than helpful and healing. I will work with you to resolve the trauma by resolving the trauma symptoms.
